While in Uruguay, he studied the original manuscripts of the Villa-Lobos etudes with the late Abel Carlevaro. Theÿ7 Studies for Guitarÿwere inspired by that experience: seeingVilla-Lobos? original pages, sitting at the foot of the technical master Carlevaro, and realizing the great need for a new set of concert studies.
