Come Sunday

Duke Ellington's Come Sunday, arranged by Paul Murtha for solo Alto Saxophone with Concert Band.

Come Sunday was originally composed as part of Ellington'ssuite Black, Brown and Beige. After a disappointing critical response to its first performance in 1943, Ellington divided the three-part suite into six shorter sections, leaving in 'Come Sunday' and 'Work Song'. It isthis version that he recorded for an album of the same title in 1958.
