Comrades In Arms

Comrades In Arms has been a staple of the Male Voice Choir repertoire for almost 150 years. The lyrics are from an earlier poem by George Linley (1798-1865), set to music by the French composerAdolphe Adam (1803-1856), who is perhaps better known for his operas and ballets.

Adam provides all the musical contrast you would expect from an operatic composer: from the quiet, tranquil, openingrefrain of On the breeze a sound is sounding, through a vigorous Allegro section, before finishing with a march-style call-and-response Be true and brave, and win the fight, he keeps the listener entertainedthroughout.

This exciting chorus is sure to impress any audience. It has been scored for TTBB, and includes a Piano reduction.
