The basis of this suite is a series of dances in Maxwell Davie's opera The Two Fiddlers, performed by children. They are played on the fiddle in Orkney-Scottish style,first at a Trolls' dance, and later at an island get-together, to break a spell cast on the Orkeny islanders by the Trolls.
