Le Fil D'Ariane

While teaching at the Montreuil Conservatoire between 1978 and 2014, Flautist and composer Yves Queyroux developed an original and dynamic pedagogical approach. Le Fil d’Ariane [Ariadne’s Thread] provides young Flautists with many key techniques that allow them, under a teacher’s guidance, to create a personalised learning experience.

Written in clear, direct terms, this learning guide gives practical tips on overcoming various obstacles in Flute-playing. In the first section, sketches and photos help students become acquainted with the new instrument and adopt proper positioning. Divided into 22progressive lessons, the second section teaches students how to master the emission of sound, notes, rhythms and registers without ever sacrificing musical expression. The technical units that make up the third section, also designed for progressive learning, allow for the creation of an individualised work programme that might range from polishing tone to attempting double and triple tonguing.
