The four melodramas can be performed either as a suite or individually. The recorder ensemble may be employed solitically or as a group. It would be interesting to perform them by alternating ensemble / solo scoring [e.g., by assigning high and more difficult parts to soloists and lower, simpler parts to the tutti ensemble]. In addition, it is also possible to combine my compositions with other pieces scored for an ensemble of any size [that is, through the use of older or newer interludes or through improvisations]. These melodramas were composed for the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis as part of a larger commission. They were first performed in Basel on 9.9.99 as “Musik fürein Blockflötenfest” [Music for a Recorder Festival]. [Basel, February 2005, Hans-Martin Linde]
