This three-movement suite (A Sunday in Saint Louis Cathedral, Give me luck... NOW, Hoodoo and Ritual Dance on the Congo Square) was premiered at the 2013 NFA Convention in New Orleans by the University of Veracruz Flute Ensemble. Ruben Flores uses a variety of extended techniques (harmonics, key slaps, wind tone) in these vignettes to help tell the story of Marie Leveaux, a 19th-century Creole Voodoo practicioner.
