For Piano and Violin.
Composed for Hilary Hahn, Avner Dorman's inspiration for Memory Games is the classic 1980’s memory game ‘Simon.’ The original game has four colored buttons, each with a distinct sound and a light bulb behind it. The machine illuminates and sounds a string of notes at random; the players have to repeat the patterns. Several rounds of Simon are played throughout Memory Games, so to speak, making it resemble a Passacaglia (or variations on a bass line).
'Avner Dorman’s labyrinthine Memory Games, based on the memory game Simon...offered gorgeous and palatable social and historicalcommentary.' -- Erica Zora Wrightson, Los Angeles Times
