Requiem op.48 (KA)

Thanks to its transparent texture and its many beautiful melodies, which seem to be token the composer’s highly personal relation to death, the Requiem is perhaps Fauré’s most popular work.

The musical structure of this frequently heard piece makes it virtually ideal for performance with organ accompaniment. This arrangement takes into account all three of the composer’s surviving versions: the early version with string orchestra as well as the two later versions with added winds and with symphony orchestra.

The original orchestral parts have been transcribed into easy-to-play organ reductions whereby the contemporary tradition of such arrangements has been taken into consideration. In some cases, the original organ versions by the composer were used. The organ parts are presented on three staves. The choir and solo parts always remain true to the original. You need only one edition for soloists, singers and organist alike.
