Sacred Choral Music SWV 381-397

The Heinrich Schütz: Sacred Choral Music collection can be performed vocally and/or instrumentally. These motets offer smaller choirs and ensembles new possibilities to perform these works, based on historically-informed performance practice.

The Basso Continuo realisation follows the composer’s intention of using the score merely as a basis for performance, but with its relatively simple realisation it allows performers to create their own version.

Heinrich Schütz was a German composer and organist, widely regarded as the most important German composer before Bach and one of the most important composers of the17th century. Schütz is said to have written what is considered to be the first German Opera, in 1627, titled Dafne (Opitz- Shütz).
