Like no other musician of his time did Johann Mattheson (1681-1764) succeed in assimilating the musical knowledge of the 18th century in his writings.

However, Mattheson's theoretical writings were grounded on a solid practical experience, of which these Sonatas for 3 Treble Recorders offer a superb practical example.

Of medium difficulty, they contain a rich and colourful array of movements ideal for study and play.
