Based on poetry by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Sonnets from the Portugese explores the finding of a mature love by a woman who wonders what part of her must she sacrifice to the lover and to the world. Larsen transforms the dialogue into a musical metaphor of resolved and unresolved harmonies.
