String Sextet In A Major Op 48

Based on the Complete Edition of the Works of Antonín Dvo ák, volume IV/9.

Composed in 1878, during the period when Antonín Dvo ák was beginning to become famous, the String Sextet was Dvo ák's first work to be premiered abroad and was given during a private event at the home of Joseph Joachim in Berlin in 1879.

The Czech folk spirit is evident in the Sextet, enriched by Dvo ák's masterful compositional style, with rich harmonies and melodies which resulted in this being the first of his chamber works to win international acclaim.

This edition is based on the autograph copy as well as the first printed edition of 1879.
