Symphonie 01 C Opus 68

A wonderful composition, written between 1855 and 1876 and in part it is a return to the Baroque Symphonic tradition. It is a solemn piece that seems to reflect the tortuous period of its creation, the terminal insanity and, later, death of his friend and mentor Robert Schumann. At times ominous, building to climactic heights, where other times it is warm and uninhibited, this is a spectacular work. That demonstrates the skill of a young master composer.
