Winterreise

Now seen as part of the 19th century aesthetic primacy of 'Bel Canto', great works for voice were frequently arranged for solo instruments, a practice that became increasingly popular as the tone and capabilities of the instruments could draw performers ever closer to the characteristics of the human voice.

Performer and composer Leopold Jansa originally arranged Schubert's celebrated Winterreise for Violin and Piano, with alternative parts for Flute and Cello. This edition presents Jansa's complete Flute version in ten movements with the full original Piano accompaniment.
